Probably the best advert I've seen for a long time
Yesterday I saw the advertisement of The Weight Watchers programme (UK) and found it really inspiring and uplifting.
The Weight Watchers programme (WW) www.weightwatchers.co.uk/plan/index.aspx is a sort of mutual aid movement — something like well known “Alcoholics Anonymous”.
The programme includes healthy eating, an active livestyle, some habit changes and – most important! — participation in the WW community meetings, or at least staying connected to the community on-line
All of the women in the advert are WW Programme participants who lost weight with weightwatchers and are happy now about the way they look.
Draw attention on the technique used to film this advert.
It seems so unusual, specially in parts like the moment under the water or when the camera goes through the car or through the window.
All the effects are simple :)
Handheld cameras were passed from operator to operator as they moved around.
There was also one person sitting in the car, who was handed the camera by someone on the left of the car, and handed it out to the next camera man on the right of the car.
One handheld camera was lowered down the front of the building by special effects riggers.
Have a look how they did it.
And the lyrics were put together from snippets of what weightwatchers most often said during their community meetings.

«The more I get the less I seem to know
And before we go let the record show
That everybody wants to change the world
But no one no one is to blame
For anything»
Not so much really… Miss Dixon seems to prefer to ask questions rather than to answer them.
And her favourite one (as well as her best friends's) is «WHY?»

The video was shown on the 1-st of January, 2012, from 6.45pm-7pm on all British commercial channels. And after January 1, it was trimmed back to 20- or 10-second slots (truly inspiring!), featuring case studies of women in the commercial.
